Business!

Ladies and gentlemen...

Sool Media is taking it to that next step. With what I have learned from the Sears studio, plus my gathered equiptment, I will be opening an on-location portrait business, effective within the next  two weeks.

Pilot Checklist

I, Dan Karlin, vow to do the following before the end of the year 2008, regarding my Television pilot:

1. Raise $3,500 (or more) as a budget. Donations are accepted.
2. Find a dining establishment, preferably one that closes at night, to stage the shoot at.
3. Do a final polish on the script.
4. Confirm the actors who expressed interest in the project, and find the remaining cast members.
5. Rent or buy lighting and sound equiptment.
6. Hire a DP, Sound engineer, makeup artist, and grip; ones that'll work for cheap or nothing.
7. Obtain the rights to indie music, because indie is basically my only option.

It's kind of scary. It's actually happening.

As you may or may not know, I've been working on this to some degree for over a year and a half at this point. The fact that it's starting to come together blows my mind, like -kaplode!-

Hey, kids...

I'm offically a photographer at the Sears Portrait Studio in North Riverside. I got the job about a week ago, and I undergo day four of training, tomorrow morning. Man, I can totally reap sympathy with playing the two-jobs-plus-school card. But, I'm terrible at card games.

I'm still working on the layout of this site. I'm trying to get it more organized, and to the point where not everything is on this one page. I'll do it later.

Life is good. School is good. Work is good. I'm good.

I chilled with my friend Chiana, today, and showed her how to work a darkroom. Arthur, my old instructor at Columbia must be smiling down on me. (I'm assuming he's dead. No real reason.)

Good Morning, Chicago!

Welcome to Sool Media; my outlet for my creativity, as well as my bullshit and rants.

This is the blog, or the main page, if you will. If you look further, you'll see such things as my photography, and soon, my videos.

As an appetizer, I give you this:

"Run To The Sun"

PIECE: "Run to the Sun" - Copyright Sool Media 2008

This was taken at a beach in Michigan, and printed in the darkroom set in my basement.

You can expect much more like this.
